Bishop Patrick remarks, that Adam himself offered the first sacrifice, and had the skin given him by God, to make garments for him and his wife; in conformity with which, the priests ever after had the skin of the whole burnt offerings for their portion.skin1:6, 4:11; Genesis 3:21; Exodus 29:14; Numbers 19:5; Romans 13:14ReciprocalNumbers 18:20 - General; Deuteronomy 18:8 - like portions; 1 Samuel 2:28 - did I give

This prohibition may, however, be understood of these animals when offered in sacrifice, and then only in reference to the inward fat, described in Leviticus 7:4. Of the fat in any other circumstances, it cannot be intended, as it was one of the especial blessings which God gave to his people - "Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats," were the provision which he graciously bestowed on his followers. - See note on Deuteronomy 32:12-14.
