1 Chronicles 22
Overview
22:1 David, foreknowing the place of the temple, prepares abundance for the building of it;
22:6 He instructs Solomon in God's promises, and his duty in building the temple;
22:17 He charges the princes to assist his son. Verse 1This is the houseDavid perhaps had some assurance that this was the place on which God designed that His house should be built; and perhaps it was this that induced him to buy not only the threshing-floor, but probably some adjacent ground also, as Calmet supposes, that there might be sufficient room for such a structure. 1 Chronicles 21:18-28; Genesis 28:17; Deuteronomy 12:5-7, 12:11; 2 Samuel 24:18; 2 Chronicles 3:1, 6:5, 6:6; Psalm 78:60, 78:67-69, 132:13, 132:14; John 4:20-22 and this is the altar2 Kings 18:22; 2 Chronicles 32:12ReciprocalGenesis 46:11 - Levi; 2 Samuel 24:24 - So David; 1 Chronicles 3:11 - Ahaziah; 2 Chronicles 11:16 - to sacrifice; Ezra 2:68 - in his place; Zechariah 9:7 - a Jebusite; Matthew 25:16 - went; Acts 13:36 - served Verse 2the strangers1 Kings 9:20, 9:21; 2 Chronicles 2:17, 8:7, 8:8; Isaiah 61:5, 61:6; Ephesians 2:12, 2:19-22 masons1 Chronicles 14:1; 2 Samuel 5:11; 1 Kings 5:17, 5:18, 6:7, 7:9-12; 2 Kings 12:12, 22:6; Ezra 3:7Reciprocal1 Chronicles 22:15 - hewers and workers of stone and timber; 28:2 - had made ready Verse 3prepared iron1 Chronicles 29:2, 29:7 without weight22:14; 1 Kings 7:47; 2 Chronicles 4:18; Jeremiah 52:20Reciprocal1 Chronicles 22:16 - the gold; 26:20 - treasures Verse 4cedar trees2 Samuel 5:11; 1 Kings 5:6-10; 2 Chronicles 2:3; Ezra 3:7Reciprocal1 Kings 5:3 - could not; 1 Chronicles 26:20 - treasures; 29:3 - of mine own proper good Verse 5Solomon1 Chronicles 29:1; 1 Kings 3:7; 2 Chronicles 13:7 exceeding1 Kings 9:8; 2 Chronicles 2:5, 7:21; Ezra 3:12; Isaiah 64:11; Ezekiel 7:20; Haggai 2:3, 2:9; Luke 21:5 David preparedDeuteronomy 31:2-7; Ecclesiastes 9:10; John 3:30, 4:37, 4:38, 9:4, 13:1; 2 Peter 1:13-15ReciprocalGenesis 33:13 - the children; 2 Samuel 3:39 - weak; 1 Kings 1:5 - I will; 1 Chronicles 29:3 - of mine own proper good; 2 Chronicles 24:13 - in his state; 34:3 - while he; Proverbs 4:3 - General Verse 6charged himNumbers 27:18, 27:19, 27:23; Deuteronomy 31:14, 31:23; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:2, 20:25-31; 1 Timothy 5:21, 6:13-17; 2 Timothy 4:1ReciprocalDeuteronomy 3:28 - charge Joshua; 1 Kings 1:13 - Assuredly Verse 7it was in1 Chronicles 17:1-15, 28:2-21, 29:3; 2 Samuel 7:2; 1 Kings 8:17-19; 2 Chronicles 6:7-9; Psalm 132:5 unto the nameDeuteronomy 12:5, 12:11, 12:21; 1 Kings 8:16, 8:20, 8:29, 9:3; 2 Chronicles 2:4; Ezra 6:12ReciprocalDeuteronomy 3:26 - Let it; 2 Samuel 7:3 - all that; 7:5 - Shalt; 1 Chronicles 17:2 - Do all; 17:4 - Thou shalt not; 22:19 - to the name; Psalm 68:29 - Because; 73:2 - But; Acts 7:46 - and desired Verse 8Thou hast shed1 Chronicles 28:3; Numbers 31:20, 31:24; 1 Kings 5:3 thou shalt not1 Chronicles 17:4-10; 2 Samuel 7:5-11ReciprocalNumbers 31:19 - abide; 1 Kings 1:20 - that thou; 8:19 - General; Psalm 72:7 - abundance; John 10:35 - unto; Acts 7:46 - and desired Verse 9a son1 Chronicles 17:11, 28:5-7; 2 Samuel 7:12, 7:13 I will give1 Kings 4:20, 4:25, 5:4; Psalm 72:7; Isaiah 9:6, 9:7 Solomonthat is, Peaceable, 2 Samuel 12:24, 12:25 I will give peaceJudges 6:24 *marg. In the time of Moses, the age was from thirty years to fifty: here this latter period is not mentioned, probably because the service was not so laborious now; for the ark being fixed, they had no longer any burdens to carry; and therefore even an old man might continue to serve.
