God promised Solomon all the things which he had not asked, except the life of his enemies; for he was to be a peaceable king, a type of the Prince of peace.this was1 Samuel 16:7; 1 Kings 3:11-13, 8:18; 1 Chronicles 28:2, 29:17, 29:18; Proverbs 23:7; Acts 5:4; Habakkuk 3:1 that thou mayest1 Kings 3:28; Proverbs 14:8; James 3:13, 3:17Reciprocal1 Kings 3:12 - I have given; 2 Chronicles 18:1 - riches; Proverbs 3:14 - General; Ecclesiastes 6:2 - a man; James 1:17 - good Verse 12I will giveMatthew 6:33; Ephesians 3:20 such as none2 Chronicles 9:22; 1 Chronicles 29:25; Ecclesiastes 2:9; James 1:5Reciprocal1 Kings 3:12 - I have given; 5:12 - as he promised him; 2 Chronicles 1:15 - the king; 9:1 - fame; 25:8 - The Lord; 32:27 - exceeding much; Nehemiah 13:26 - yet among; Psalm 89:27 - higher; Proverbs 3:14 - General; Daniel 1:17 - God; James 1:17 - good Verse 13at Gibeon2 Chronicles 1:3 reigned1 Kings 4:24, 4:25Reciprocal1 Chronicles 16:39 - before; 21:29 - Gibeon Verse 14Solomon2 Chronicles 9:25; Deuteronomy 17:16; 1 Kings 4:26, 10:16, 10:26-29 the chariot citiesCities where the chariots, and horses belonging to them, were kept.Reciprocal2 Chronicles 8:6 - chariot cities; Song of Songs 1:9 - to a Verse 15the kingHe destroyed its value by making it so exceedingly plentiful. 2 Chronicles 1:12, 9:27; 1 Kings 10:27-29; Job 22:24, 22:25; Isaiah 60:17 madeHeb. gavesycamore trees2 Chronicles 9:27; Isaiah 9:10; Amos 7:14Reciprocal1 Kings 5:9 - in giving food; 2 Chronicles 17:5 - he had riches Verse 16SolomonHeb. the going forth of the horses which was Solomon's, 2 Chronicles 9:28; 1 Kings 10:28, 10:29 linen yarnThe word [מקוא [H4723], or מקוה [H4723], mikweh, is regarded by the ancient translators as a proper name. The LXX have, "from Tekoa," the Vulgate, de Coa, "from Koa," which is adopted by Dr. Geddes; the Syriac, "from the city Aphelia;" and the Arabic, " ex urbe Australium. " Bochart thinks it signifies a tribute; others suppose that it signifies a string or drove of horses, or as Jarchi says, what the Germans call Stutte, a stud; but Houbigant supposes it to be a corruption for mercavah, "chariots." Our English translation, however, which regards it as synonymous with tikwah, seems by far the best. According to Norden, linen yarn is still one of the principal articles of commerce in Egypt, and is exported in very large quantities, together with unmanufactured flax and spun cotton; and Sanutus, 400 years ago, remarked that though Christian countries abounded in flax, yet the goodness of the Egyptian was such, that it was dispersed even to the west.
